Projects with a Purpose began as a desire to use the talents and gifts that God has given me. I wanted to use them for His glory, but every path I traveled was not the one I needed to be on.
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21
After praying and asking for wisdom that only God can give, Projects with a Purpose was born. You see, it became more important to me that God’s glory reign higher than anything else and that meant higher than my desire to use my abilities (which are ultimately His anyway).
Several years ago, my husband had a desire to adopt a child. After much conviction, I jumped on board with him. We are seriously and actively pursuing a birth mother who would like to give her child a chance at life. We also knew that this could be an expensive feat, but knowing that God always provides exactly what we need, we were not worried.
Through the projects that are created or designed in Projects with a Purpose we will put the proceeds toward our adoption. Each piece will present the gospel in some sort or fashion whether it be face to face or on the piece itself. Therefore, more than one purpose will be served through the things that happen in this adventure.
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work inthe sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived inthe passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing;it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:1-10
My hope is that once we are done funding our adoption (or even while we are working toward it) that Projects with a Purpose will allow us to be a blessing to those around us who are either helping to spread the gospel or are in need of it. Our prayer is that God will bless our efforts and use it all for His glory.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
